Currently, sixixis have their studio set up in Redruth. The members of the trio, Tom Raffield, Charlie Whinney and Chris Jarratt, studied 3D Design for Sustainability at University College Falmouth. Their aim to work with locally sourced wood gives an extra edge to their designs. Each member loves the life that Cornwall provides, and so have learnt to rely on local industry for their materials. Along with their innovative approaches to steam bending wood, the loyalty to their home gives them a character and resilience often missing in today’s design community.
Two other Hidden Art members, Charles Trevelyan and Jenny Wilkinson both came highly recommended by the auspicious panel of judges, scoring themselves a case of champagne each. The award kicked off a busy week for Hidden Art designer-makers, who displayed their wares at the Daily Telegraph House & Garden Fair from 29 June – 2 July 2006. In all, 17 Hidden Art members, all of whom have products on sale at the Hidden Art E-Shop, showed their designs to the masses.
