Dent Contemporary Textiles was set up by Caroline Dent in 2000.following 20 years experience designing woven textiles, both at themanufacturing end and as freelance designer selling designs to fabrichouses internationally.
 
In 1994 she was awarded the covetedGrand Prix in the International Design Contest, which was the catalystthat led to the decision to  manufacture  her own collection, “elemental”  which  was immediately shortlisted for 3 major awards inthe UK, and snapped up by Larsen USA for worldwide distribution.
 
Herunique signature has evolved through an ongoing exploration of therelationship between chaos and order, and controlled distortion is arecurrent theme in her work.
 
Best  known for her  sheerfabrics blinds and hangings all of which are designed  to filter light,she often uses laminated finishes and likes to involve herself in thedesign of the final product, be it in the form of blinds, lighting,drapes or screens, or lighting.
 
Her designs attract muchattention because she succeeds in bringing together craft andtechnology, to create intriguing fabrics and textiles with thesimplicity and beauty of a hand-manipulated fabric, but using high techyarns and industrial looms.
