Dent Contemporary Textiles was set up by Caroline Dent in 2000. following 20 years experience designing woven textiles, both at the manufacturing end and as freelance designer selling designs to fabric houses internationally.
 
In 1994 she was awarded the coveted Grand Prix in the International Design Contest, which was the catalyst that led to the decision to  manufacture  her own collection,  “elemental”  which  was immediately shortlisted for 3 major awards in the UK, and snapped up by Larsen USA for worldwide distribution.
 
Her unique signature has evolved through an ongoing exploration of the relationship between chaos and order, and controlled distortion is a recurrent theme in her work.
 
Best  known for her  sheer fabrics blinds and hangings all of which are designed  to filter light, she often uses laminated finishes and likes to involve herself in the design of the final product, be it in the form of blinds, lighting, drapes or screens, or lighting.
 
Her designs attract much attention because she succeeds in bringing together craft and technology, to create intriguing fabrics and textiles with the simplicity and beauty of a hand-manipulated fabric, but using high tech yarns and industrial looms.
