I work at the wheel with porcelain and stoneware and explore variations on the vessel form. Themes include ‘mini handled vessels’, ‘wrapped vessels’ and ‘ thrown and altered textured or spined vessels’. Pieces range in size from 9 cm to 50 cm.
Gestural markings and tonal variations reveal inspiration from music and travel and represent a synthesis of improvisation and order.  The glazed surface is produced by introducing salt into the kiln at a temperature of 1280C.
The play of fire in the salt-glazing process enhances the surface textures and adds an element of unpredictability and challenge to my creative journey. Living on the edge means that new discoveries are always on the horizon with each piece emerging from the kiln with individual identity.
Work is produced in the vibrant atmosphere of the Broadway Market studio and salt fired in the tranquillity of the countryside.
